Newport Aquarium

One of the big reasons that we decided to vacation where we did was because it is close to the Newport Aquarium. I really thought it would be a fun activity with Lyla at 11 months. It was. She was facinated with all of the fish. Plus we went on a Thursday morning which meant the place was a ghost town so Lyla could just wander aimlessly to her hearts content. It was a fun random view of an aquarium. Normally Matt and I read the cards/plaques and are interested to learn a little something on a trip like that. Not this time, but somehow it didn't seem to matter. Who knew the aquarium glass floor could be so scary and fun at the same time. Lyla did.

October Trip to the Coast

The farmers' market ended October 9th and we were promptly off to the beach for a week shortly after. It was a much needed change of pace for everyone. We rented a house in Waldport, OR just south of Newport. It was a great house just a block away from the beach and it had a fenced yard and allowed dogs. All big pluses for us. We went out to the house on Tuesday. We spent much of our time out on the beach. Lyla loved walking around in the sand. She has been to the beach a few other times but couldn't really walk then, so this was a big deal for her. She also loved letting the sand fall through her fingers. Super cute.



Two very happy dogs. They love the beach. I love just being able to let them run free and hop around in the sand. Just dogs getting to be dogs.

Such a fun day.

What a month...

I seriously feel like I looked up and August is almost gone. We have been super busy around here with life and everything else. Lyla is almost nine months old- crazy, I know. She is pretty funny these days. She hates to be on her belly so that has hindered crawling. We find her on her belly on her crib sleeping and she seems fine but if we put her on her belly she instantly gets upset. My feeling.... no reason rock the boat. She will come around when she is ready- we aren't training here. She is however a master cruiser along furniture which makes me a nervous nelly. I just don't want her to fall- it breaks my heart. Trouble is though that this little girl has NO fear. She dives for things, trys impossible maneuvers and twists and twirls to her hearts content. She has spirit for sure. The has started to try to say a few words- squirrel, girl and garden so far. Can you tell we spend a lot of time outside and at the window? She also makes this cute funny noise with her nose- she scrunches up her whole face, half smiles and blows in and out of her nose. I think she is trying to laugh cause the more she does it the more we laugh and she just keeps going- it never gets old though.
We are going camping soon which is much needed. We are also redoing our bathroom- as in gutting it and starting fresh. That is our labor day project- fitting I think. I am also working on the very final touches of my Etsy shop and should have that open very soon.

8 Months!

I can't really believe that this little girl is 8 months old. She is turning into more of a little girl and less of a baby. Lyla is really very happy and smiley. Matt has brought her to many of my events this summer- she loves the music at the concerts and people watching at the market. She really loves music. We have it on almost everyday in our house. She taps her feet to the beat, she wiggles, she smiles, she flaps her arms- the more drums... the better. Super cute little Lyla bug- she has surely shown me a new kind of love.
